Strandhill film & Folk FestivAL 2026
Co-organised by Alice Ward, the festival’s third edition celebrated the intersection of film, folk music and biodiversity in Sligo.
Highlights included our Director in Focus evening in collaboration with NTA, showcasing the work of Donegal experimental filmmakers Vivienne Dick and Myrid Carten, alongside a vibrant folk music programme and biodiversity talks with Hometree and Sligo Biodiversity Officer Ruth Hanniffy.
Climate Inspirations Festival 2026
Wild Atlantic Impact brought together the changemakers, creatives and entrepreneurs shaping a more regenerative future for the west of Ireland, exploring ocean regeneration, renewable energy, living culture and business.
Alice Ward, Creative Director of Sea Pea Films, presented a keynote and Q&A on environmental storytelling, exploring how empathy and compassion for the natural world can create deeper connections and meaningful change.
Alice presented alongside Casey Camp Horinek, activist and Environmental Ambassador for the Ponca Tribe of what is now Oklahoma and Eoin Warner, wildlife documentary presenter.
The ocean and seas session - presented by finisterre
The final stop on Alice’s Salt film tour brought her to Kendal Mountain Film Festival for a conversation celebrating the power of ocean filmmaking. Sharing the stage with Colin Butfield, director of David Attenborough’s Ocean film, alongside Noah Lane, James Bowden and Luke Pilbeam.
The discussion brought together filmmakers united by a passion for the ocean and the role film can play in deepening our connection to the natural world.
SaLT Film tour
In November 2024, Alice Ward's latest short film, SALT, made its debut in both London and Ireland, earning acclaim along the way. The film was awarded ‘Best International Short’ at the London Surf Film Festival and ‘Best Short’ at the Irish Surf Film Festival.
SALT resonated with a wide range of audiences and screened in over 50 locations worldwide.The film received multiple international accolades, including Best Short Documentary at the Brooklyn Film Festival in 2025.
Women of the sea film fund
Sea Pea Films is honoured to share that Alice’s project SALT has been awarded the 2024 Women of the Sea Film Fund, selected from a global shortlist of 50 films.
Brought to life in creative partnership with Finisterre and the London Surf / Film Festival, SALT will make its world premiere at the Festival in October 2024.
OIshii Film Launch
In November 2023, 'Oishii' premiered at the Irish Surf Film Festival in Galway City and secured a place among the top three finalist films.
Combining elemental aspects of the Atlantic Ocean and refined culinary practices of Japan. This film relates the tale of Julian Farmer, an Australian surfer engaging with two cultures, fusing his love of surf and food to enrich the communities he passes through.
